Dr. Niederman is on the road most days.  All messages left at her office phone or emails sent to her computer will be answered in a 24 hour period.

Function: Used for fighting which is why these teeth are usually only found in geldings and stallions [some mares have small ones]
Number: 4 [two upper and two lower on each side] [adult set erupts between 4 ½ and 5 yrs]

Function: None. Evolutionary remnant when horses had 7 cheek teeth in each arcade instead of 6 [six].
Number: Up to 4. Most have 1-2 uppers. Usually erupt between 6-12 months of age.
