Problem: Numerous expired cheek teeth

[enamel in the center of the tooth has worn down to the gum line, thus reducing the horse’s surface area for chewing hay. A normal age related change].  The picture to the right is a view of a the teeth of a young horse, before it has lost any of its surface area.  The three images below, going from left to right,  show a normal occlusal surface, a cupped occlusal surface and an expired occlusal surface.

Solution:Removal of sharp enamel points. Nutritional counseling.
