Problem: Purdi had a sagittal fracture of the left maxillary fourth cheek tooth[#209]. The crown of the tooth fractured during the attempt at oral extraction.

Treatment plan: Standing repulsion using a steinmen pin. Dr. Niederman coordinated efforts with Dr. JoLynn Joyce of Austin Equine Associates to perform this procedure. A steinmen pin was radiographically guided into position and then the remaining tooth fragment was tapped out into the mouth. Radiographs were taken before and after the procedure to confirm removal of the entire tooth fragment.

Follow up: Purdi had a little facial swelling for a few days but otherwise did not miss a meal!
